Zinc is an essential micronutrient for plants, playing a significant role in enzyme activation, protein synthesis, and hormone regulation. It is particularly important for the development and growth of plant tissues. Zinc deficiency in plants often results in stunted growth, interveinal chlorosis (yellowing between veins), and reduced fruit or seed production. Some crops that are known to be sensitive to zinc deficiency include corn, wheat, and rice. Adequate zinc availability in soil can be ensured through proper fertilization or the application of zinc-containing fertilizers.
